okay look. here's the deal.
i tried to have an open mind. i did.
i do not like farscape in my stargate. these are not two great tastes that taste great together. in fact, they cause my brain to explode. although there is massive delight factor in seeing claudia black be so funny and seeing ben browder do ANYthing.
i also do not like x-files in my atlantis. and that scriptwriting was some massive-ass crap, exceeded in its badness only by the horror of the directing.
raqs' brain go boom.
there. i said it. if you feel the need to flame, just keep in mind that i will ignore you SO hard.
On the other hand, the chocolate sushi is scheduled for its final demolition. Excuse me.

I was wondering if some people, who were fans of both shows, might not like it so much. I'm still in the 'missing Jack' phase, but I think I can get over it. Also, I'm only just now discovering Farscape, as you know, so I'm not so conflicted.
And I liked Atlantis okay, but not as well as the final episode of last year.
So, yeah, I can agree with your assessment (But, OMG U R Ev0L! FlameeeZZZZ!), because I sort of felt that way myself a teeny, tiny bit. But I was just so damn happy to see Ben and Claudia again, and have them interacting with Daniel and Teal'C, that I squee'ed instead of rolling my eyes. But there was definitely a temptation to *eye roll*
And since I'm not a GIANT RDA fan, although I love Jack, I haven't missed him ... yet. I thought 2.1 Atlantis was pretty good, but then again, I kinda hated it last season and was left unimpressed at the season end.
Plus, *smooches* for being so funny.
my first reaction was squee, i'll admit it. but after it was all over i had this unshakeable feeling of "what the hell was THAT?"
i think i am too much in the plotty dramatic ending thing to respect Atlantis 2.1 at all. my "Turbulence" was way better.
it sure made me feel better about MY writing. :-)
It's awesome that it made you feel better about your writing - seriously. I'm sure you're totally correct - now where is this "Turbulence?" *runs to check your memories* Will have to read "Dead Man's Party" as well.
So you are saying that the ending wasn't plotty enough? It was all wrapped up too neatly? There were only a million cliches, let's face it.
Turbulence is Pegasus B, so if you read it you'll want to know that Daniel never joined the Sg program till he got recruited by his old ex Rodney to go to Atlantis, and that a lot of bad shit happened to Jack and he was kind of out on disability (or just bugfuck crazy or whatever) till he got tapped to be the military lead at Atlantis.
it's some good shit.
tafkar's "dead man's party" is the last of a whole ALTERNATIVE alternative universe in which, when this peg b party got to atlantis? Ba'al had beaten them there. Her series is marked Pegasus Ba'al in
both of us did a much better job both of leading up to cliffhangers of Big Battle Scenes and then resolving them. I mean, ok, it's a show about blowing shit up, but there has to be some characterization, some depth to it, or it doesn't MEAN anything. That didn't mean shit. And Ford really got shafted, which should have been their piece de resistance (poor Grodin's death was better done.)
I don't mind dei ex machina if the dialogue doesn't suck, if i care about the characters. and the characters should care about EACH OTHER. even the tiniest bit.
i also have some problems with the battle scene looking like fireworks and the long loving shot of the nuclear detonation (not as many problems as
My inner fangurl is getting quite a workout today. I love those silly bints.
I'm gonna go print out that Turbulence and see if it's the good sh*t like you say. Pegasus B - coolness.

Well, yeah, that's what I loved about Farscape *cough* *cough* 'cause they blew a lot of stuff up, and they had mad puppetz, but it was all about the characters, and about isolation and stuff. And there were more aliens that weren't just humanoid or had bumpy heads... there were some trippy aliens there! I digress...
And yes, the piece de resistance WAS Ford's transformation - only wha? Everybody was totally calm about it except Sheppard. They were in la-la land, whereas they should have been crying and *emoting* and stuff. I love what they did to him, now we'll see if they have the balls to carry it out.
And Grodin's death? Saddest. Thing. Ever. You're right - you have to care. After the last 100th time that Atlantis was going to be blown all to hell, I sort of didn't really care anymore. Ya know?
On the other hand, the new Battlestar is amazing! No issues with that one at all.
ben browder just keeps getting hotter and hotter, don't he?
with you there raqs. As a fan of BOTH Stargate and Farscape, I wasn't really sure what to expect seeing the two shows kinda combind.
(For some strange reason, I kinda got the feeling that the characters from Stargate would have worked out better on Farscape, than the people from Farscape do on Stargate... now I've confused myself. Great!)
Anywho...
As much as I Like Ben Browder, I just wasn't thrilled with him coming over and becoming part of SG-1. That's like PeeWee Herman going over to Atlantis and taking over McKay's spot. (and if that ever happens, there will be serious HECK to pay!)
Open minds aside, everyone is entiteled to an opinion and I just can't see myself wanting to watch this New Startgate every week. Although, I'm sure I'll buy season 9 on DVD when it comes out, only because I'd hate to break up the set.
*runs from room dodging flame throwers*
i would have liked to see SG-1 on Moya. That would have worked quite well. (hey, they're always pleased as punch to be on an Asgard ship, and Carter would have been fascinated by the teeth-cleaning bugs.)
plus, jack vs. aeryn? who would kick whose ass first? oh, i know, you're thinking it's teal'c vs. aeryn, but i dunno....
plus, i think john might actually be carter's true love. too bad he's all taken. boy, that would shake carter up. (we've never seen her want a guy who was really taken already...) (*ducks as slashers converge from all sides of the internet to yell "YES WE HAVE!!"*)
i crack myself up.
x-files sucked SO bad by the fifth season i denounced chris carter as the antichrist and renounced all of his works.
